I am a cinematographer based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. I have experience as a DOP and second camera operator across a wide variety of formats, entertainment, reality and film. I was trained in cinematography and am comfortable shooting on all shooting formats. I’m a team player and coming from a graphic design background I have always pursued expression in visual media, cinematography. This is not only my current job, but a passion. I have a great desire to tell great South African stories and become an influential South African Filmmaker.
After finishing high school, I joined a class called the Imagination Lab where, for a year, I spent time looking for my creative edge and in that time I taught myself graphic design programs. The following year I joined a media company as a graphic designer for about 2 years until I finally got the finance to go to Film School. I discovered my love for Cinematography at Film School and have not looked back since. After graduating I worked as an assistant on (Survivor Maldives) which propelled me into the world of reality TV for several years where I cut my teeth in the style ending up operating on South Africa’s best reality Shows such as Survivor and Master chef.
I have always had love for the format I trained in, shooting to script on long and short form and I had to find my way back to this style of shooting. I got my hands on a few operating gigs on Dramas and comedies up until I was DOP on a few films and TV Shows. I ended 2016 by shooting a series of 10 short films in a space of 10 weeks each week working with an up and coming female director with only a week to finish each film. I am a very dedicated film-maker with the hopes of making more South African Artistry and hopefully the rest of the world too.
